We are a historical re-enactment group formed in 1998 and based in West London. As a local group within The Vikings*, The Temesvikings re-enact military and domestic life of the 10th and early 11th centuries. Our members represent some of the Anglo-Danish and Anglo-Saxon natives and settlers who might have been found in the London area some 1000 years ago.

Most of the time we portray a band of Anglo-Danish warriors (Lithsmen) in the service of King Æthelræd of England, at the time of the great upheavals that swept England between the years 989-1016. Today, this type of mercenary is unusual, but a thousand years ago the hiring of warriors by kings and nobles was quite common. Apart from guarding against raiders, they were also used to collect taxes and fines and enforce the Kings peace. At other times, however, especially if the King is slow to pay us our wages, we may band with our brothers from over the seas and take what is rightfully due us from the local inhabitants.
